Responsible for reload project management as well as activities associated with the provision and transportation of fuel, including fabrication contract management.
Responsible for maintaining the fuel reliability program, performing fuel mechanical engineering design reviews, performing engineering evaluations of the fuel fabrication processes and technical assistance to fabrication oversight activities.
Responsible for fuel cycle and core design including strategic fuel design evaluations. Maintains detailed core models to support site reactor engineering or other plant functions. Responsible for maintaining reactor physics and fuel criticality expertise, and for supporting the analytical and design bases on which each plant was licensed.
Provide analysis capability or technical oversight of contracted analyses.
Employs barriers such that neither an unplanned criticality nor a fuel failure due to exceeding design limits occurs.
Responsible for reload and physics support activities. Ensures that engineering work is performed and programs are implemented consistent with defined standards. Ensures that fleet lessons are learned and good practices are implemented.
Provide technical expertise for emergent issues in support of or beyond the technical capabilities or resources of the stations, and to augment the nuclear station resources for special issues.
Assist the sites in problem solving, as needed, and critically challenge assumptions and decisions that can affect nuclear safety.
Coordinates with industry and assists in developing site long-range strategies in collaboration with nuclear station personnel for significant site problems.
Leverages industry and site resources to resolve key technical issues and develops optimal fleet strategies to address issues, including establishing and communicating vision, mission, strategies, expectations, decisions, and transition plans.
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other closely related scientific discipline / physical science generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Engineer / Technical Specialist level.)

Engineer I: 0 – 2 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer II: 2 – 4 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer III: 3 – 5 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer Sr: 4 – 6 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer Sr Staff: 5 - 7 years experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills. Proficiency with current computer business applications.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Desired: SRO license or certification; Professional Engineering license.
