J OB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The Manager, Substation AM provides leadership, oversight and strategic direction of the Substation Asset Management group for the Transmission organization. This position is accountable for governance and oversight, focused coordination, monitoring, review, prioritization, and assessment, to assure high levels of Substation reliability.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the Substation Asset Management organization to ensure the safe reliable operation of Substation assets. Interact with Transmission Grid and Utility Operations leadership to support customer commitments and response to reliability issues.

2.Provide oversight of the root cause analysis and trending of substation outage events to aid in the development of effective reliability programs strategies.

3.Facilitate development and implementation of value optimized substation maintenance programs including plan intervals, condition based maintenance triggers, algorithms, and procedures. Develop and implement capital infrastructure programs prioritized to ensure investments deliver targeted performance improvement at optimum value. This includes monitoring and reporting program plan execution and ensuring programs are delivering expected benefits. Coordinate with AM TLINES, AM Protection, and Grids.

4.Interact with the Grid Operations organization to integrate operations leaders into the reliability plan life cycle such that AM Substation strategy is transparent to stakeholders and targeted to Transmission performance metrics. Develop stakeholder support to create annual reliability plan and maintenance plan agreement.

5.Provide leadership and oversight for Substation Asset Management efforts related to regulatory requests and requirements from FERC, NERC, SERC and other regulatory bodies. Foster a strong safety and compliance culture within the Substation Asset Management organization.

6.Promote workforce diversity and development through effective hiring practices. Facilitate the development of future technical leaders through mentoring and challenging assignments. Foster a culture of employee engagement in industry initiatives, committees, and benchmarking efforts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

Minimum 10 years of engineering and/or operational experience. Minimum 4 years of Supervisory/Managerial/Leadership experience preferred.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership ability.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; team player.

  • Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects.

  • Thorough understanding of substation procedures, programs, and standards. Strong organizational skills with ability to lead multiple workgroups and projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of utility electric system design and operations.

  • Knowledge of budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.

  • Knowledge of FERC, NERC, and SERC regulatory requirements.
