JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Security Shift Supervisor reports to their Security Operations Supervisor. The Security Shift Supervisor is the first-line supervisor to a group of Security Officers at an Entergy Nuclear plant and provides daily and direct oversight and monitoring of their assigned Security Officers. Security Shift Supervisors are accountable for the performance of their assigned Security Officers and provide direct supervision, performance management, and implementation of the MARC process for their assigned Security Officers. Security Shift Supervisors also are responsible for providing safe, effective oversight for the implementation of the Site Security's NRC-approved Physical Security Plan and implementing procedures, in accordance with 10CFR73.55, and Entergy's business policies, procedures, and standards.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for investigating, responding to, and otherwise handling or addressing grievances, and as any grievances proceed through later or higher steps, making recommendations on whether or how they should be granted, denied, resolved, or otherwise adjusted; Responsible for conducting fact-findings, human performance error reviews in accordance with EN-HR-135 and EN-HR-138, and carrying out (administering) and/or making recommendations on disciplinary action as situations arise; Participating in Academic Review Board proceedings involving any Security Officer that reports to him/her; Administering Entergy's MARC progressive discipline process for their direct reports (Security Officer), and making recommendations on disciplinary action in connection with MARC; Ensuring that Collective Bargaining Agreements are reviewed and consistently followed and enforced within the appropriate processes.

  • Performing Leadership Effectiveness Log coaching, in particular to their direct reports (Security Officers); Performing daily post observations to ensure compliance to post orders, procedures and behavioral observation program; Recommending/Evaluating Security Officers for promotion; Assess performance and conduct performance evaluations of Security Officers; Responsible for maintaining personnel records; Participating as a member of the interview panel for the Security Officer position, making recommendations on whether to make job offers to applicants.

  • Participating in monthly meetings with their assigned SOS to ensure team alignment; Attending station operational meetings for Safety/Security interface; Assigning duties and providing direction to their assigned Security Officers; Determining fitness for duty of Security Officers both prior to and during shift through the exercise of discretion and independent judgment, including observation of behavior and probing questions when appropriate; Removing Security Officers from duty in the event it is determined the Security Officer either is not fit for duty or is otherwise failing to perform his/her duties at an adequate level and in a safe manner; Approving and denying Shift Swaps for their assigned Security Officers; Approving and submitting Security Officer's timesheets.

  • Participating in department Security Training Review Group meetings; Verifying their assigned Security Officers and contract Security Officers are qualified in Plateau and NANTeL prior to performing their assigned duties at all times; Ensuring that Security Officer physicals and Access Reinvestigations are coordinated; Obtaining and maintaining all required training and qualifications; Performing On-The-Job Training, Job Performance Measures and Task Performance Evaluations in accordance with EN-NS-300, Security Training Program; Enforce weapons handling IAW training and fleet governance procedures.

  • Creating and reviewing daily shift paperwork; Conducting daily shift briefs with Security Officers; Ensure that industrial safety is a priority with security officers; Performing weapon issuance and accountability as applicable; Ensuring daily, weekly and operational testing of equipment is completed; Ensuring staffing levels are maintained at all times, in accordance with the Physical Security Plan, the PQ&S Watchbill Database and EN-OM-123, Fatigue Management Program; Assisting the Security Manager, Security Superintendent, and Security Operations Supervisors with site investigations; Performing technical reviews of Security procedures, policies and post order revisions; Assuming the role of Security Superintendent as designated, during off-hours.

  • Authorizing personnel or vehicles into the Protected Area; Maintaining site maintenance and lay down areas to ensure there is no impact to security operations; Interfacing with the various Station departments and coordinating support activities; Implementing compensatory measures in accordance with the Physical Security Plan requirements; Report and coordinate the repair of degraded conditions of security posts and equipment; Initial determination of reportability for security events and conditions; Performing as the Response Team Leader of security shift personnel during contingency situations; Any and all other requirements as specified by the Security Manager or Security Superintendent.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required for the position

  • High School diploma or GED is required, or equivalent work experience.

  • Desired: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Engineering, or other disciplines generally associated with plant operations.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Nuclear plant, military, supervisory, or law enforcement experience

  • Desired: 3 years of supervisory/management experience at an operating nuclear power plant and experience supervising union and contract employees.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Technical proficiency in Nuclear Security or the ability to acquire it rapidly.

  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.

  • Proficiency with current computer business applications.

  • Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills.
