JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Provides laboratory-based project work related to sampling plant systems, diesel fuel and associated testing. Ensures all projects and analysis complies with the chemical hygiene plan.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Provides corrosion control.

2.Complies with laboratory quality control requirements. Performs instrument calibration and operation. Responds to off-normal conditions. Inputs chemistry data into data management system.

3.Maintain chemistry levels are within established limits and below action levels.

4.Performs data reviews.

5.Communicates to chemistry management in a timely manner regarding any issue affecting plant chemistry. Complies with the Chemical Control Program.

6.Responds to out-of-specification chemistry. Understands adverse chemistry effects on equipment performance. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

B.S. Degree in chemistry or a related technical degree, Naval Nuclear Power School or Engineering Laboratory Technician School or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

Chemistry Lab Technician 1: BS degree in Chemistry or related technical program or approved Apprentice Program.

Chemistry Lab Technician 2: 2 years commercial nuclear experience.

Chemistry Lab Technician 3: 4 years commercial nuclear experience.

3 - 4 years of working experience in their specialty. Minimum of 1 year of the experience should be related technical training. At least 2 years experience at the facility. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Proficiency with current computer business applications. High degree of manual dexterity.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.5.2– Technicians The standard specifies this as Journeymen Level Personnel, Radiochemistry Technician, Nuclear Control Technician, Nuclear Control Technician (I&C), Metrology Technician, Radiation Protection Technician, Lead Technicians. Individuals in training or apprentice positions are not considered technicians or maintenance personnel for purposes of defining qualifications in ANSI/ANS.

Successful completion of the EEI TECH Test.
