JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Under close and/or directive supervision, with little latitude for planning or laying out of working details, must be able to perform simple mechanical work involved in the inspection, repair, installation, test, adjustment and calibration of meters and instruments, and of automatic combustion control equipment and regulating devices in nuclear generating stations, and related equipment in shop or in place and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned:

1.Install and maintain simple mechanical measuring devices and control equipment such as pressure gauges, thermometers, thermocouples, instrument piping, and simple regulating and control devices.

2.Perform simple operations in connection with general test work on reactors, boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchange equipment, cooling towers, piping, draft equipment, instruments and controls and other related mechanical equipment.

3.Perform simple operations requiring some precision with hand, bench and power tools.

4.Analyze flue gas samples and perform routine tests on instruments and controls.

5.Diagnose and correct minor trouble of secondary equipment not involving continuity of service.

6.Direct work of assistant and assist other technicians.

7.Assist in general operation and maintenance during unusual or emergency periods.

8.Prepare records and reports.

9.Perform necessary housekeeping as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission endorsed regulations and standards.

10.Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards and other regulatory agencies.

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1.High school diploma or equivalent.

2.Must have worked at least one year as Helper ‑ Nuclear or have had equivalent experience in power plant operation and maintenance.

3.Must have at least one year's experience in power plant or related work.

4.Have a general knowledge of mechanical work such as piping and accessory installation, reactor, boiler, turbine and pump maintenance, hand and machine work, etc.

5.Be familiar with elementary mechanical principles.

6.Be familiar with elementary principles of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices as used in generating plants.

7.Gain proficiency in the use of and nomenclature of tools and equipment ordinarily used.

8.Be familiar with the operation and function of reactors, boilers, turbines, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, regulators and mechanical control devices.

9.Be thoroughly familiar with Company's electrical and mechanical tagging rules.

10.Have ability to understand and perform simple operations of average complexity and variety where standard methods of procedure are available.

11.Know Company's safety rules, and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be able to render practical first aid.

12.Know location of, and be able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Age ‑ 19 minimum.

2.Must have full use of mental and physical faculties.

3.Must have strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor as circumstances may require.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.

2.Be willing to attend and take part in safety meetings.

3.Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.

4.Be willing to work irregular or extra hours as required.

5.Be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates.

6.Have a temperament suited to jobs where manual dexterity, precision and patience are particularly essential.

7.Be especially neat, clean and orderly in work and person.

8.Understand importance of always rendering and maintaining first class, courteous service to all customers.
