This position can be filled as a Tech Training Specialist Sr or Tech Training Specialist Sr Lead depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.

This position can be filled in The Woodlands, TX, or in other locations within Entergy's TX service territory.


Serves in a lead role providing maintenance and operation training services to Power Generation personnel, trains new personnel, and solicits and responds to trainee needs. Training services include development of training courses, teaching courses, communicating with customers to define and prioritize their needs, developing plans and initiatives to meet customers' needs. Based on Subject Matter expertise develops and teaches simulator training on all types of units. May also be involved in taking the lead on curriculum development and /or technical writing projects, depending upon role assignment within team


  • Serves as a lead and/or technical champion in working with customers to determine needs and priorities and develop plans and initiatives to meet customer needs related to maintenance, operations, and other technical training for the Power Generation organization

  • Serves as a lead in researching and analyzing operational, maintenance, and other technical training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultations with managers, instructors, or customer representatives. Conduct needs and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for new curriculum development or for updating existing curricula for Power Generation operations, maintenance, and other technical personnel

  • Takes a lead role in overseeing, delivering, teaching, coordinating and/or facilitating training courses, including simulator training on all types of units. Develops and edits classroom training materials and provides input into overall training content in order to provide the most relevant training to meet the training needs. Solicits and responds to feedback regarding content, delivery, training department processes etc. related to training delivery. Applies evaluation models (such as Kirkpatrick's model of evaluation) to assure highest level of training effectiveness and analyzes existing training delivery to determine the appropriate method for future delivery. Interfaces with Supply Chain regarding requisitions and contracts for contracted training services and/or materials

  • Takes a lead role in developing and/or updating training courses and certification processes for new and existing operations, maintenance, and other technical personnel in Power Generation. Applies A.D.D.I.E. or other development models as required for all course development/maintenance projects and maintains course history information. Converts traditional classroom-based learning content to other delivery systems, such as mobile or eLearning delivery when appropriate. Actively solicits feedback on programs and updates as needed; improves, training initiatives to improve training (learning) effectiveness

  • May be involved with collaborating with business partners to review and update Operating Procedures, Maintenance Procedures, and other documents as requested; also, to develop and manage a technical documentation plan for each project outlining deliverables, due dates, and launch requirements. Obtains technical reviews from content owners and ensures the accuracy of revisions to provide customers with the highest quality technical materials. Participates in continuous improvement of technical writing processes and systems (e.g., content management) to ensure quality, compliance, and reliability of technical publications

  • Serves as mentor and advisor to group. Acts as department lead in the evaluation, development, and budgeting for simulator programs and associated equipment. Provides mentorship and feedback to new trainers and other less experienced employees. Work with a minimum of supervision to complete all work on schedule and budget


Minimum education required of the position

  • High school diploma required, or equivalent work experience

  • Preferred:

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree with a preference for an advanced degree

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Sr: 5+ years of power generation or other industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material

  • Sr Lead: 8+ years of power generation or other industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material; preference for a minimum of 5 of those years in a training role

  • Preferred:

  • Experience in developing and administering training programs

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Candidates to have practical knowledge of technical skills to be taught and to perform technical craft techniques appropriate to the subject matter being taught

  • Able to effectively communicate in various mediums and various styles. In-depth knowledge of plant operations procedures and processes. Leadership skills, excellent mentoring and interpersonal skills

  • Desired:

  • High level MS Office proficiency

  • Power plant simulator programs knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of NERC requirements, PGen operations and maintenance development programs, PGen plant processes (maint mgmt., budgeting, etc.)

  • Ability to understand, interpret and organize technical manuals/data

  • Experience writing operating procedures/technical manuals

  • Working knowledge and/or the ability to learn to work with LMS and Share Point
