*Position will be filled as Engineer I - Sr depending on experience of applicant. The position can be located in either Jackson, MS or New Orleans, LA.*
This position, in the Transmission Planning group, is required for conducting Stability and Transient analysis.
The responsibilities/duties for this position are as follows:
Perform steady state load flow analysis in the Operational horizon.
Perform transient stability, voltage stability and small signal stability studies. Familiarity with the PSE/E software package and other state of the art load flow and stability packages, such as Power World, VSAT, TSAT and SSAT is essential.
Perform Abnormal Protection Scheme (APS) dynamic studies when requested and work with Relay Field Operations Support (RFOS) on protection system issues that can impact the Transmission system.
Ability to conduct transients and harmonic studies using EMTP and SuperHarm software.
Support the Transmission Control Center on stability/protection related issues and implementation of software for analysis in real time.
Perform short circuit analysis, motor start analysis and breaker rating studies using Aspen/Cape software and maintain Operational Planning short circuit models.
Analyze disturbance monitoring devices such as dynamic recorders and phasor measurement units.
Interface with load serving entities, regulatory agencies, reliability councils and other transmission providers.
Represent Entergy on industry wide technical working groups.
Minimum education required of the position
BS Engineering Degree, or equivalent work experience.
Electrical Engineering preferred
Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development.
Skills in engineering analysis, problem solving and condition assessment
Desired qualifications/requirements for this position is as follows:
MSEE or Phd with emphasis on power systems
At least 5 years of experience in modeling, system analysis and planning of power systems
Experience in a power utility or a consulting company,
Strong written and verbal English communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
Minimum experience required of the position
Engineer I: 0-2 years of applicable and progressive experience
Engineer II: 2-4 years of applicable and progressive experience
Engineer III: 4-6 years of applicable and progressive experience
Sr Engineer: 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
