*Position will be filled as Engineer I - Sr depending on experience of applicant. The position can be located in either Jackson, MS or New Orleans, LA.*

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

This position, in the Transmission Planning group, is required for conducting Stability and Transient analysis.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities/duties for this position are as follows:

  • Perform steady state load flow analysis in the Operational horizon.

  • Perform transient stability, voltage stability and small signal stability studies. Familiarity with the PSE/E software package and other state of the art load flow and stability packages, such as Power World, VSAT, TSAT and SSAT is essential.

  • Perform Abnormal Protection Scheme (APS) dynamic studies when requested and work with Relay Field Operations Support (RFOS) on protection system issues that can impact the Transmission system.

  • Ability to conduct transients and harmonic studies using EMTP and SuperHarm software.

  • Support the Transmission Control Center on stability/protection related issues and implementation of software for analysis in real time.

  • Perform short circuit analysis, motor start analysis and breaker rating studies using Aspen/Cape software and maintain Operational Planning short circuit models.

  • Analyze disturbance monitoring devices such as dynamic recorders and phasor measurement units.

  • Interface with load serving entities, regulatory agencies, reliability councils and other transmission providers.

  • Represent Entergy on industry wide technical working groups.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position

  • BS Engineering Degree, or equivalent work experience.

  • Electrical Engineering preferred

  • Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development.

  • Skills in engineering analysis, problem solving and condition assessment

Desired qualifications/requirements for this position is as follows:

  • MSEE or Phd with emphasis on power systems

  • At least 5 years of experience in modeling, system analysis and planning of power systems

  • Experience in a power utility or a consulting company,

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills with ability to work in a team environment

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Engineer I: 0-2 years of applicable and progressive experience

  • Engineer II: 2-4 years of applicable and progressive experience

  • Engineer III: 4-6 years of applicable and progressive experience

  • Sr Engineer: 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
