The role of the IT Program Manager, Sr. Staff Project Controls is to provide leadership to teams in the achievement of the requirements of Entergy IT's Stage Gate Process (SGP) and project management and controls standards across Entergy’s Grid Modernization Portfolio. It is accountable for the activities which identify, monitor, and report on project cost, schedule, issues, issues, and risks.

The IT Program Manager, Sr. Staff Project Controls is a highly visible role that interacts regularly with IT and Business project stakeholders. Provides day to day oversight of project control team members who are responsible for core functions of the Stage Gate Process, including all cost control, scheduling, and PMO operations functions.


  • Provide deep subject matter expertise (SME) in the various disciplines of project management and control; collaborate and implement continuous improvement of policies, standards, and guides that standardize and optimize project delivery across Entergy's IT organization.

  • Provide vendor and internal management of an assigned team of project controllers, schedulers, specialists and analysts. Provides oversight, support and coaching to the project controls staff.

  • Ensures project controls are implemented on assigned capital projects in line with Management Standards and Stage Gate Process requirements.

  • Collaborates closely with project and program management to assess project team performance and address any gaps, identify project risks and develop mitigation plans and identify project issues and formulate plans to address the issues.

  • Reviews and validates project status reports and performance metrics for all assigned projects.

  • Provides information and reports related to project progress, estimates at completion and compliance with project controls standards to executives and to project steering committees. Provides input to progress reports filed with regulatory bodies.

  • Identifies gaps in Entergy's project control environment and takes proactive steps to implement improvements and strengthen controls.

  • Responsible for work intake and workload management across project controls team members.

  • Collaborates closely with Grid Modernization Strategy’s Project Controls organization on PMO operating model execution inclusive but not limited to roles and responsibilities clarity, provides thought leadership on supporting IT program & project methodologies, and the effective and efficient operations of PMO scheduling, controlling and operations processes for the Grid Modernization Portfolio.


Minimum education required of the position:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information & Technology, MIS, Business or equivalent work experience.

Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position:

7+ years of leading development projects, preferably within the energy industry

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  • IT Program and Project management experience and/or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of multiple application & infrastructure platforms, development methodologies.

  • Experience in project delivery in highly outsourced environments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization.

  • Ability to lead using informal authority to drive organizational objectives (internal and external resources).

  • Strong analytical and financial management skills.

  • Experience with customer facing technologies (e.g., CRM, portals, mobile apps) preferred.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:


  • Active PMP Certification

  • Active Agile Certification

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Primavera Project Management Systems
