The Modernization Organization specializes in the delivery of complex programs generally composed of a large portfolio of interrelated projects and workstreams. Generally, these programs require an integrated, cross-functional portfolio of technology enabled and digital utility related capabilities. The position scope includes planning, oversight and governance of the program releases to production.
The Release Manager’s role is to plan, oversee and manage the packaging and delivery of software releases to production environments. This includes the monitoring of release progress through the entire pipeline, assuring quality standards for deliverables and Entergy processes are consistently met at each stage gate and coordinating releases and teams at the portfolio, program, and team levels.
The Release Manager will also provide oversight and governance and templates for the Release Management process and will provide oversight and direction to project team resources that are responsible for the actual deployments.
Coordination/Governance across the multi-vendor/multi projects/program for deployment tasks and deliverables.
Responsible for ensuring all projects within project adhere to all Project Management and Solution Delivery Lifecycle Standards.
Development and communication of deployment reference materials to provide the Program Managers, Project Managers (IT/vendor) and Deployment Managers.
Maintain Reference Material outlining Entergy’s deployment deliverables and procedures required for introducing product(s), new or modified, into production.
Approve and communicate solution readiness for production deployment.
Review, provide feedback and approve all vendor deployment deliverables as define by Solution Delivery Lifecycle.
Oversee and coordinate all deployment activities leading up to and including cutover / go-live milestones.
Responsible for identifying, assessing, and developing mitigation plans for project / program deployment dependencies, risks, and issues.
Establish and maintain appropriate business relationships with Service Delivery Managers, Business Unit Managers, Entergy Executive leadership and Vendor Management.
Have a stake in and assist with measuring and monitoring progress to ensure application releases are delivered according to plans and expectations.
Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go/no-go reviews.
Provide oversight and planning for the IT Environments required throughout the project lifecycle (both Production and Lower Environments).
Develop and maintain the IT Environment Management Plan for each release.
Minimum education required for this position
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or other technical area of study or equivalent experience
Advanced degree preferred
Minimum experience required for this position
11+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
6+ years of broad working knowledge of IT Enterprise and Solution Architectures and delivery methodologies including applications, infrastructure, integration, security, real-time/operational technologies, release management, etc., Utility Industry standards, architectures, solutions; Utility Industry and Entergy business acumen; IT/OT Integration; Grid operations and controls; Technical integration strategies/patterns, and Third-party vendor coordination and collaboration/teaming and release management; Management of large/complex programs and projects
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities for the position
Broad working knowledge of IT Enterprise and Solution Architectures and delivery methodologies including applications, infrastructure, integration, security, real-time/operational technologies, release management, etc.
Strong ability to facilitate coordination and compromise across multiple external vendors, program workstreams and internal IT organizations. Address and resolve issues as appropriate or document and raise to appropriate management attention.
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to quickly adapt to changing events and priorities; realign as needed.
Proven experience in oversight of design, testing and deployment of software releases.
In depth knowledge of Entergy’s deployment methodologies and standards
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
Strong comprehension of solution delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, Incremental/Hybrid, Agile.
Utility Industry standards, architectures, solutions; Utility Industry and Entergy business acumen; IT/OT Integration; Grid operations and controls; Technical integration strategies/patterns.
Strong customer service orientation.
Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including effectively communicating with all levels across the organization within IT and within the business.
Proven experience with release management, environment management and portfolio and program management best practices.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Proven experience to lead indirect reports across multiple work streams.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
PMP or PgMP - preferred
Scrum Master - preferred
