This position is responsible for managing the execution of the Technical or Maintenance Training program functions.
Provides overall direction, planning and performance of Technical or Maintenance Training group activities to ensure achievement of budget goals. Integrate Technical Training activities into plant operations to ensure safe, reliable, cost efficient operation.
Provides organizational guidance, direction, leadership, and planning for line training related activities. Interfaces with the appropriate Manager to determine how training resources can best be applied to improve line performance.
Identifies training needs, contracts support, budget preparation, and oversight for training departmental corrective action, training, and work activities as related to Technical or Maintenance Training. Works effectively with the Management Team setting priorities, allocating resources, and driving to operational leadership.
Establishes an environment which fosters a strong safety culture. Ensures training provided to site personnel reinforces these principles.
Ability to gather data, make recommendations and decisions for complex problems.
Ensures compliance with applicable requirements, regulations, procedures, and specifications. Serve as a member of the emergency response organization.
Minimum education required of the position
Desired: BS in Education, Engineering, or a related technical degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
6 years of commercial nuclear power plant with experience in training, operations, maintenance, or AP, chemistry or engineering. 2 years previous experience as a supervisor. Refueling outage experience desired. Desired: 2 years previous experience as a training supervisor or training program lead.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Technical proficiency in training and an understanding of the systematic approach to training. Broad technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong management and leadership skills. Strong teamwork and problem solving skills. Familiar with company policies and procedures. Proficiency with current computer based applications.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Desired: SRO or certification on BWR or PWR.
Requires understanding and application of procedures and concepts within own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines.
Applies understanding of how the team relates to other closely related areas to improve efficiency of own team.
Has formal supervisory responsibilities; sets priorities for and coaches employees to meet daily deadlines.
Uses judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
Impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and its contribution to the sub-function.
Uses tact and diplomacy to exchange information and handle sensitive issues.
