*Selected candidates will move into the Control Room Supervisor position upon successful completion of the initial licensing class and SRO examination as detailed below. *

Job Summary :

The Control Room Supervisor ensures the safe and efficient operation of the plant, such that the health and safety of the workers and public are not jeopardized; give safety and quality a clear priority over schedule and cost; supervise the activities of the control room staff through all conditions of startup, shutdown power generation, and emergency.

Job Duties/Responsibilities – Initial License Training (ILT) Class :

  • Complete training program to obtain NRC SRO License

  • Self-regulated study time and field time, as necessary, to maintain ILT performance within standards

  • Complete ILT Fundamentals, Systems and Simulator Phases

  • Complete Simulator Certification

  • Perform other job-related assignments and/or duties as assigned

Job Duties/Responsibilities – Control Room Supervisor Role :

  • Monitor and supervise plant operations in the Control Room.

  • Coordinate with support staff to ensure that operations outside the Control Room are performed in a safe and controlled manner.

  • Authorize and manage Control room access.

  • Assure compliance with all applicable regulations and procedures.

  • Authorize, in conjunction with the Shift Manager and support staff, the implementation of scheduled or unscheduled work activities affecting station equipment, including corrective and preventative maintenance, modifications and protective tagging.

  • Utilize the station's corrective action programs to address issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Actively participate in training and personnel development opportunities.

  • Participate in pre- and post-job evolutions.

  • Assesses component operability/reportability.

  • Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.

  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

Minimum Requirements :

Minimum education required of the position:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or Sciences generally associated with nuclear power plant operations is highly desired, but not required if minimum experience requirements are met (NUREG 1021 and ACAD 00-003).

Minimum experience required of the position:

  • Held an ACTIVE RO or SRO license at a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) commercial nuclear power plant (same vendor and vintage) for at least 12 months OR

  • Held an active Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator license at a noncomparable commercial nuclear power plant for 18 months OR

  • 18 months as a manager, supervisor, or staff member responsible for the coordination and implementation of plant equipment controls, integrated operations procedure, operations, maintenance, radiological support, modifications maintenance planning, work control, chemistry, or accredited training at a current or comparable (BWR/PWR) nuclear power plant OR

  • At least 18 months as a qualified non-licensed operator; OR

  • 24 months in a position equivalent to a reactor operator position at a military power reactor (qualified to manipulate or direct the manipulation of control rods) OR

  • 48 months as a senior operator level certified instructor at a BWR commercial nuclear power plant (same vendor and vintage) OR

  • 72 months as a senior operator level certified instructor at a non-comparable facility

  • Note : Bullet items 3 and 4 require a B.S. Degree in addition to the requirements listed.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  • Proficiency with current computer business applications. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:

  • Minimum Requirements for Control Room Supervisor are defined in NUREG 1021 and INPO ACAD 00-003, Rev. 1 Guidelines for Initial Training and Qualification of Operators. Candidates must be currently Senior Reactor Operator licensed or meet these requirements for initial license. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Meet the qualification requirements contained in EN-OP-115.
