Job Description:

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be hired as a Radiation Protection Tech 1/C

  • Perform radiological surveys on the primary, secondary, auxiliary systems, plant buildings and grounds

  • Sample materials for radiological release

  • Provide contamination and dose control

  • Maintain the Radiation Work Permit Program

  • Track radiation exposure for personnel and work tasks

  • Determine methods to reduce radiation exposure

  • Provide radiation protection coverage for work tasks

  • Establish worker stay times

  • Establish radiological work requirements

  • Respond to off normal conditions

  • Maintain radiation exposures ALARA

  • Maintain radiation exposures within limits

  • Develop shield packages

  • Develop flush plans

  • Radiologically post the power plant

  • Respond to off normal radiological conditions

  • Understand adverse radiological conditions on equipment and personnel performance

  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position:

High School diploma or GED.

Minimum experience required of the position:

6 months commercial nuclear experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

DESIRED

BS degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related technical degree

Naval Nuclear Power School and Engineering Laboratory Technician School

ANO, GGNS, IPEC, RBS, and W3 candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978

ANSI Section 4.5.2 Technicians

Minimum of 3 years of working experience in their specialty.

Minimum of 1 year of the experience should be related technical training.

High degree of manual dexterity.

Individuals in training or apprentice positions are not considered technicians or maintenance personnel for purposes of defining qualifications in ANSI/ANS 3.1 section 4 Qualification but are permitted to perform work for which qualification has been demonstrated.
