Job Summary/Purpose

  • Works with diverse project team and other project controls resources to provide Project Controls support in the areas of schedule, cost, risk, and reporting in Entergy’s Project Delivery portfolio with a focus on Distribution work.

  • Ensures deliverables in the areas of schedule, cost, risk, and change control are developed and implemented in accordance with the requirements of Entergy’s project execution processes (traditional Stage Gate and/or streamlined Resilience process).

  • Provides insight into project progress and status on a regular basisthrough engagingandinfluential leadershiptoproactively supportthe project team and to ensure projectsmeetqualitystandards,submit accurate and timely project management deliverables,operatewithin budgeted costs, and identify/mitigate risks as needed.

  • Supports decision making within leadership and project management through implementation of and continuous improvement to controls processes and ongoing reviews of project status, risk profile, and performance metrics.

  • Provides support throughout the project lifecycle.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide overarching controls support to the Distribution Project Managers (PMs) and associated teams within assigned region/portfolio. Support includes critical review of project management deliverables, reinforcement of project execution processes, ongoing assessment of project management analytics to drive mitigating actions, intrusive oversight of project execution and cost/scope/schedule management, working with PMs and cost analysts to forecast estimate to complete (ETC) reporting of monthly present estimates, monthly controls reporting, and coordination of governance reviews.

  • Implements project controls processes on assigned capital projects in line with Management Standards, project execution process requirements (for ex: PDS and/or Resilience standards), and industry-best practices.

  • Collaborates closely with project management to assess estimate accuracy, ensure accurate schedule progress reporting, identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and raise project issues to leadership such that plans are formulated to address identified issues.

  • Provides overallguidanceto the project team regarding schedule & cost adherence, change management, performance management, progress and reportinganalysis, contract administration,Project Controls specifications, payment milestones,andexceptions/ clarifications. Performs adhoc reportingonproject andportfolio itemsregardingcost, schedule, andrisk asnecessaryto successfullyguide and deliver Distribution’s Capital Projects portfolio.

  • Engages with project and management teams to ensure project needs and requirements are a top priority for the Project Controls Group.

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and intrusive oversightto ensureeffective controlsfortheCapital Projects portfolioand identifies gaps in Entergy's project controls environment and takes proactive steps to implement process efficiencies and strengthen controls.

  • Specific Duties in Identified Areas include:

  • ­Cost– Participate in monthly cost review calls to ensure cost analyst’s information aligns with known data from related conversations and reports.

  • Schedule– Participate in ongoing schedule review meetings to ensure information aligns with known data from related conversations and reports. Primavera (P6) is Entergy’s standard schedule reporting tool.

  • Risk– Implement and enforce established change management process. Monitor Change Request proposals to ensure change details are accurately captured, approved, and subsequently incorporated into project baselines. Support project managers with development and review of risk registers as requested. Any risk review includes the use of the Crystal Ball excel tool to create a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) which measures project risk.

  • Process Implementation & Enforcement– Candidate will be assigned to a region-specific portfolio which will include many simultaneously-executed projects. Established change management and governance processes are key to ensuring all cost, schedule, and scope impacts are understood and evaluated by leadership. The chosen candidate will be the primary custodian of process adherence and enforcement. Will need to question items and work with project managers where necessary to iron out answers to inform accurate and timely leadership decisions. Candidate chosen to fill this role should approach existing processes with a questioning attitude and seek to drive improvements and efficiencies where possible to streamline execution while adhering to controls’ best practices.

  • Conduct ongoing review of Project Management Deliverables– Candidate will be responsible for validating documentation produced by project management meets criteria laid out in Entergy’s Stage Gate and/or streamlined Resilience process and. Will need to conduct regular reviews of project management documentation (Project Execution Plan, cost estimates, risk assessments, proposed schedules, etc.) and communicate any noted shortcomings prior to project reviews by Stage Gate reviewers. These reviews consist of documentation in the areas of cost, schedule, risk, and overall project management.

  • Reporting– Facilitate monthly Project Controls review sessions with assigned region and/or portfolio leadership. Sessions utilize Power BI dashboards which pull from schedule, cost, and risk reports and inform leadership of identified problems or gaps in project management metrics. Candidate will need to read numerous dashboard reports to verify consistency and identify issues as they arise. Will need to support ad hoc analysis and reports as requested.​​​​​​​

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management (or related field) OR 8 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.

Minimum experience

  • 6 years minimum capital project management and/or project control experience with project controls focus. Utility capital project experience essential.

  • Desired:

  • Project controls experience on large scale capital projects.

  • Experience of project controls implemented on projects executed under various types of contract agreements including EPC. Both contractor and owner construction project controls experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Expert knowledge of the fundamentals of scheduling, cost control, and risk management.

  • Working knowledge of scheduling software packages and related analytics.

  • Superior skills with spreadsheet-based analytics.

  • Knowledge of project and construction management fundamentals.

  • Critical Thinking -- Use logic and reasoning to identify relevant factors, gather essential data, and assess the strengths / weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.

  • Complex Problem Solving - Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement best available solutions.

  • Proactive approach to recurring tasks and application of Continuous Improvement mindset to a wide variety of processes, procedures, and tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Desired: Individual should have strong knowledge in project schedule, cost controls, and risk management.

  • Desired: Project Management Professional /Program Management Professional Certification, Risk Management Certification/Training, P6 Certification.
