This position will be filled as an Engineer II, III, or Sr. (Dist) based on qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

This position may be located in any regional office in Arkansas.


This position works in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and is responsible for managing construction execution of distribution capital projects. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.


  • Through the stage gate process, this role will be responsible for developing specific class estimates, scopes of work, construction management plans, outage plans, contract strategy, participate in design and constructability reviews, oversee contractors through execution of work, and ensuring all configuration and compliance management procedures are adhered to.

  • Perform a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in distribution-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations.

  • Use engineering/technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and improve products or services.

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.

  • Support activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required.

  • Provide input to the development of project plans, including scopes, estimates, schedule, and quantitative risk analysis throughout the project life cycle.

  • Provide frequent financial and schedule reporting for assigned projects throughout the project life cycle

  • Track contractor cost and schedule performance. Work with contractors to develop recovery plans as needed.

  • Manage contractors in alignment with contract terms. Review, validate, challenge, and process change orders.

  • Ensure the integration of safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management practices into final products/designs/processes.

  • Oversee distribution pre-construction or construction activities.

  • Accountable for the resolution of technical engineering conflicts that affect cost, schedule quality or customer satisfaction.

  • Work with other disciplines within the Distribution organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals

  • Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary


Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from four-year accredited institution

  • Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial)

Minimum Experience:

  • Engineer II: at least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline

  • Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline

  • Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable of engineering principles

  • Ability to understand and comply with procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area

  • Good leadership skills

  • Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software

  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures

  • Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards

  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base

  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change

  • In depth understanding of utility regulation and RFPs

Any Certificates, Licenses, etc.

  • EIT OR Graduate Level Engineering Degree OR MBA Required.

  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

  • Preferred : PMP, FE, and PE
