Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro and petroleum coke plants, with total engineering capacity of over 18,500 megawatts and is building or acquiring more than 3,000 megawatts of new natural gas generation to join its 30,000 megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities.

JOB SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION :

This position manages and participates in environmental compliance activities. Management of environmental programs and compliance activities for the Power Generation Fleet. This position currently manages approximately 10 direct reports.Primary responsibilities include oversight of:

  • Environmental permitting (existing assets)

  • Environmental compliance

  • State environmental agency interface

  • Plant environmental compliance support

  • Environmental negotiations and settlements

  • Department of Energy and Environment stakeholder participation

  • Plant environmental assessments

  • Support Entergy's State Governmental Affairs and Environmental Strategy & Policy groups on emerging environmental legislation

  • Regulatory analysis of state and federal environmental regulations applicable to the Louisiana Power Generation Fleet

  • Environmental due diligence

  • Asset Recovery and Demolition Support

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and implements the Power Generations business unit's environmental compliance activities for Louisiana Power Generation Plants in accordance with governmental, regulatory agency and Entergy requirements

  • Collaborates with Power Generation Environmental Director and other Power Generation State Environmental Managers to ensure that environmental compliance activities are performed in a consistent manner for the Fleet

  • Manages Louisiana Environmental Support team to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality environmental support to the Louisiana Power Generation Fleet

  • Develops and monitors performance metrics to evaluate facility performance regarding environmental impact measures (e.g., air emissions, water discharges, etc),compliance events, malfunctions and enforcement actions.Communicates performance statistics to facility colleagues and develops plans of action

  • Works collaboratively with facility colleagues to identify root causes of environmental events and ensures that controls are implemented to prevent recurrence of similar events

  • Researches and maintains current knowledge of all relevant environmental laws and regulations for region, including current and proposed standards, regulations,and guidelines.Develops compliance strategies to meet regulatory requirements,including scheduling,tracking,and planning for environmental assessments,site investigations, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.Develops and implements sampling and monitoring plans,partnering with facility colleagues to install,operate and maintain equipment which monitors air,land, and/or water pollution levels

  • Participates in and coordinates facility inspections to evaluate compliance (e.g., reviews training records to ensure EPA-mandated training has taken place, audits spill kits to ensure they are properly stocked,inspects ash management) with all standards and regulations.Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly

  • Prepares technical documentation for own and management's use when dealing with regulatory agencies and other internal/external needs.Maintains working knowledge of new technologies developed by the industry and government regulators.Provides technical guidance associated with reporting and data analysis

  • Assists facilities with planning and preparation of information and the facility for scheduled and unscheduled audits

  • Providestechnical guidance regarding inspection methodologies, procedures, potential compliance issues and corrective actions

  • Leadand/orparticipatein work groups, as needed, to drive the implementation of processes, procedures, and practices for the Power Generation Environmental Support Department required to align with the Power Generation Business Plan

  • Interfaces and works collaboratively with other Entergy Business Units,as required to achieve Entergy's mission to be the premier utility that creates sustainable value for our four stakeholders: owners, customers, employees, and communities

  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Preferred:

  • Engineering, Environmental Management or Physical Science

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+years ofenvironmentalexperience

  • Preferred:

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Experience in Environmental Management and compliance for Power Generation facilities

Minimum Knowledge, Skills , and Abilities:

  • Possess a clear understanding of multimedia environmental regulatory requirements, both Federal and State,as applicable to the Electric Utility Generation Industry

  • Prior experience in environmental permitting and compliance for Power Generation facilities

  • Prefer candidate with prior line management experience

  • Established relationships with Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality staff

  • Budget management/adherence experience

  • Demonstrated ability to drive results
