Entergy Training Specialist (Utility Gas Operations) in Westwego, Louisiana

This position can be filled as a Technical Training Specialist or Technical Training Specialist Senior depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The position is responsible for delivering learning content as needed to support Utility Operations Learning & Development programs as required by the Manager and Supervisor of Technical Skills Training. This learning content may include, but is not limited to, technical skills, processes & procedures, software applications, safety, human performance, business acumen, and employee core competencies. The Training Specialist delivers this learning content utilizing a variety of formal platform presentation, facilitation, and one-on-one communication skills; as well as, a wide range of technology to include face-to-face, hands on, overhead video projection systems, smart boards, and augmented/virtual reality devices. The learning content delivery audience ranges from newly hired employees to advanced learning for seasoned employees.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver technical skills training programs to ensure employees possess needed technical skills, as well as, have the right knowledge of safety, Gas Operations business practices, standards, policies and procedures required to perform effectively in their jobs.

  • Delivery will occur in classroom, distance learning and field environments. Scope of instruction will encompass fundamental, intermediate and advanced skill levels.

  • Administer competency evaluations (written and hands-on) to employees as they progress through established training programs.

  • This position may be required to deliver all applicable safety compliance training inclusive of OSHA and Entergy mandated safety training.

  • This position will also assist with the design, development and maintenance of new and existing training materials.

  • Training responsibilities include supporting Utility Operations and Jurisdictional Safety departments in fulfilling storm restoration responsibilities.

  • This position will be responsible for developing training schedules, registering students to attend learning events, tracking student attendance, and administering course evaluations.

  • This position is expected to carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree/bachelor’s degree desired.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Training Specialist : 6 years Gas Operations experience

  • Training Specialist, Sr : 8 years Gas Operations experience

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Welding Experience

  • Polyethylene Fusion Experience

  • Commercial Driver’s License

  • Experience Hot Tapping/Stopping High- & Low-Pressure Gas Lines

  • Strong Safety culture to include understanding of human performance tools.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Moderate to advanced level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technology and software tools.

  • Ability to comprehend and adjust to emerging technologies

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and customers.

  • Ability to work with multiple levels of the organizational structure.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

Notice: As a safety sensitive position, compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) drug and alcohol regulations is required, including but not limited to pre-employment drug testing and background screening.

*Entergy has entered into an agreement to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business to Bernhard Capital Partners. The sale is expected to close in approximately the third quarter of 2025. Entergy has no planned reduction in workforce as a result of this sale, and intends to operate the business as usual prior to the sale.*
