Job Summary/Purpose:

  • Assists in the development and execution of stakeholder communications and of key messages both inside and outside Entergy about the company’s northern US nuclear power plants.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Build and execute communications strategies designed to support business objectives, inform internal and external stakeholders, and improve public perceptions. Provide strategic communications counsel and messaging support to internal customers.

  • Monitor industry, national and local news outlets to identify emerging issues and media coverage of the company’s northern US nuclear power plants.

  • Utilize social media to communicate key messages and engage audiences on issues that promote the company’s strategic initiatives, including its plan to exit merchant power.

  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues on social media usage and other technical support, as needed.

  • Develop and implement responses to media and other external stakeholders. Serve as company spokesperson for business unit’s merchant nuclear fleet (located in NY, MI, MA, VT), weighted more heavily toward the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan, NY.

  • Engage subject matter experts for input into official company statements, talking points, and Q&A.

  • Support implementation in the northern US of company’s nuclear fleet and corporate communications plans.

  • Assist in implementing editorial and other departmental standards. Edit the work of and/or provide guidance and direction to other staff members. Conduct project management such as on budgeting, purchasing and requests for proposals.

Additional Information:

  • Entergy’s merchant power business unit (Entergy Wholesale Commodities), which operates nuclear power plants in NY, MI and MA, and currently manages the decommissioning of a permanently closed plant in VT, is being phased out over the next several years. This position supports communications initiatives for that business unit, so the phaseout will likely affect the long-term viability of this position.

Minimum education required of the position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related subject, or equivalent experience.

Minimum experience required of the position:

  • Sr Lead Communications Specialist - 7+ years of experience in corporate communications or public relations.
