Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of 28 active natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities with the capacity to generate more than 18,000 megawatts and is building nearly 3,000 megawatts of new natural gas generation to join its 30,000 megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities.

Montgomery County Power Station:Being built north of Houston, Texas, the 993-megawatt Montgomery County Power Station is scheduled to start commercial operation by June 2019.


The Team Leader, maintenance reports directly to the plant manager. The successful candidate directs, leads, and supervises a team of maintenance and technical support personnel at a Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant while sharing responsibility for its safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This position’s primary responsibility is to oversee the maintenance program of the plant including both routine and outage work. This position oversees, manages, optimizes and fully implements the Conditioned Based Outage/Integrated Planning Process (a.k.a. Stage Gate Process). Outage oversight responsibilities include both planning and execution phases. This position champions development of the multi-year tactical and strategic project identification and budgeting processes. The team leader, maintenance effectively manages maintenance issues to support system needs, evaluates performance of and develops direct reports, maintains high standards of diversity and inclusion, ethics and integrity, and drives continuous improvement by serving as a champion of change.


  • Responsible for safety, compliance, budgeting, reliability, and all other aspects of the maintenance program of the plant

  • Provides direction to maintenance (mechanics, electricians, instrument technicians) personnel, schedules resources, and manages staffing issues

  • Provides leadership for and the development of direct reports in order to embrace a culture of strong fundamentals

  • Embraces human performance improvement initiatives

  • Leads technical and maintenance support staffs to comply with safe work practices and plant procedures

  • Champions efficiency improvements to increase availability and reliability

  • Ranks reliability and financial risks using data analysis and historical and predictive maintenance information from both internal and external industry sources to prioritize plant staff efforts

  • Maintains plant risk register and equipment condition document

  • Works with Fleet Maintenance group to develop long-range, detailed planning and execution of Power Generation unit maintenance outages to comply with cost, schedule and safety objectives

  • Provides and supports budget development, project development, scheduling and cost control for short-range work plans and long-range strategic planning

  • Responsible for LTSA cost management

  • Prepares and manages budget in assigned areas to effectively manage variances from the approved annual budget

  • Collaborates with System Planning & Operations personnel to optimize outage schedule and to address emerging maintenance issues

  • Provides leadership to contract managers to oversee safe and efficient contractor routine and outage work

  • Staffs and manages routine, planned, emergency, and reserve outages as well as assigned projects

  • Teams with plant leadership staff to drive key issue resolution impacting business processes, budget, maintenance strategy, outage scope, schedule and cost

  • Identifies, evaluates and champions resolution of plant performance gaps consistent with the company's overall business strategy

  • Leads site teams to identify and implement maintenance strategies and funding needs for equipment processes

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external business partners

  • Maintains an awareness of the latest industry research and utilizes practical application to drive continuous improvement


Minimum education required for the position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Desired: Candidate with a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering or equivalent work experience (e.g. 10 years of power plant experience with at least 5 years of maintenance experience)

Minimum experience required for the position :

  • Without degree: 10 years of power plant experience with at least 5 years of maintenance experience

  • With technical degree: 5 years of power plant maintenance experience

  • Desired:

  • Experience with CCGT power plants

  • Candidates with prior supervisory or other leadership experience

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position :

  • Knowledge of power plant operating and maintenance practices, equipment maintenance strategies, lockout /tag out or tagging procedure and other safety procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with contractors and outside agencies

  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, and to learn new applications as appropriate

  • Ability to build a strong team through demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to actively engage subordinates and other plant personnel to strive for operational and maintenance excellence

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • History of strong accountability for results
