JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data Analytics - Perform summary analysis, trend analysis, and statistical analysis on large volumes of data; identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Reporting – Provide ongoing reports based on the results of data analytics performed; work with management to prioritize business and information needs; extract, filter, and aggregate data through logical queries and basic programming

  • Process Improvement – Develop, enhance, and streamline processes/procedures for increased efficiency and effectiveness, including updating process documentation and flow charts

  • Operational Support – Support the ad-hoc analysis of generation assets and communicate financial impact to various groups, including Operations and Management

  • Compliance – Adhere to internal controls and evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk

  • Audit Support – Work with auditors to explain results of operations

  • Leadership – Demonstrate leadership within the team, with the ability to transfer knowledge and help grow other individuals, as well as lead/implement assignments with little/no oversight

  • Communication – Work and communicate with various internal groups to compile and analyze data, including Operations, Planning, Front Office, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Credit, Information Technology (IT) and Legal

  • Regulatory – Provide data to other departments in support of regulatory filings; produce and maintain data and reports in support of regulatory filings; support regulatory requirements of RFIs (request for information) and other external data requests on an ad hoc basis; respond to internal RFIs in an efficient and timely manner

  • Safety – Participate in regular safety meetings and working in a safety-conscious manner

  • General Business Support – Support other departmental initiatives on an as needed basis

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • BS/BA in a technical field such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent work experience

Minimum Experience:

  • Analyst II: at least 2 – 4 years of professional experience

  • Analyst III: at least 4 – 6 years of professional experience

  • Analyst Sr: at least 6 years of professional experience

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have solid analytical skills with attention to detail, be a self-starter, and exhibit a commitment to the quality of his/her work

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Must be a team player with the ability to efficiently become skilled at new systems

  • Must be able to react to high volumes of requests and changing priorities

  • Highly motivated, self-sufficient, and enthusiastic individual who has strong desire to grow within Company

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView or equivalent to create impactful reports, visualizations, and interactive dashboards

  • SAS experience or demonstrated ability to learn SAS quickly

  • Strong focus on continuous process improvement

  • Advanced/expert level Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex IF/THEN statements, Macros, VBA programming)

  • Advanced knowledge of database management, querying large datasets, writing SQL statements

  • General understanding of energy commodity markets and regional power system operators (i.e. MISO, PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, SPP, ISO-NE, etc.) preferred, but not required
