Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of 28 active natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities with the capacity to generate more than 18,000 megawatts and is building nearly 3,000 megawatts of new natural gas generation to join its 30,000 megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

  • Manages the NERC Compliance program for Power Generation

  • Manages Risk Management processes for Power Generation including the Corrective Action Program (CAP)

  • Manages Root Cause Analysis and Causal Determination processes and provides support

  • Provides Configuration Management support including the Plant Modification Program (PMP) and drawing management support / standards

  • Acts as Power Generation Manager of EPRI Technology Transfer (METT)

  • Supervisor for six (6) staff members

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

NERC Compliance:

  • Supports the implementation of NERC programs to ensure full compliance with all applicable NERC Reliability standards. Works effectively with corporate NERC compliance groups with governance and support responsibilities.

  • Develops and implements plans, schedules, procedures, tools and processes required to establish and maintain a comprehensive NERC Reliability Compliance Program.

  • Plans, develops, and executes training programs designed to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Compliance program requirements.

  • Assist in the performance of NERC Compliance Assessments, Gap Analyses, compliance program setups, mock audits, audit participation and training of personnel.

  • Provide NERC compliance governance, oversight, execution and support for Power Generation and deliver effective process and program management to Power Generation management and plants including:

  • Monitor NERC compliance at all Power Generation plants and at the headquarter level

  • Develop, revise and update PGEN NERC Policies / Procedures to ensure compliance

  • Develop processes and tools to ensure compliance can be easily tracked and documented.

  • Track status of NERC compliance standard milestones

  • Support internal audits / assessments to ensure compliance

  • Act as Power Generation point of contact for communication between Power Generation, NERC Compliance, SPO and Transmission on NERC standards data and issues.

  • Prepare information for all NERC/SERC regulatory filings, communicate this information to Power Generation Leadership and submit all filings.

  • Provide monthly PGEN NERC reports to the PGLT.

  • Host semi-annual NERC Champion Peer Group Meeting

  • Support NERC CRG and NERC CAP process.

  • Representative Power Generation on external audits of Entergy by NERC or SERC and ensure all preparation work for the audits is complete.

  • Ensure Power Generation employee are effectively trained on NERC standards

Risk Management / Corrective Action Program:

  • Provide governance, oversight and support to Power Generation on Risk Management to ensure the organization’s risk is transparent and being effectively managed to support Operational Excellence.

  • Responsible for Power Generation Risk Management Governance Procedure

  • Responsible for Power Generation Corrective Action Program (CAP)

  • Maintain PGEN ERM (Archer) Risk Register and represent PGEN with Archer project team

  • Maintain plant-based Risk Register Process and continuously improve

  • Develop and report Risk/CAP Dashboard / Metrics

  • Train the organization on Risk/CAP and provide tools / guides

  • Interface with Treasury Risk Engineering to ensure identified Properly and Fire Protection and Boiler & Machinery risks are managed

Root Cause Analysis:

  • Manage PGEN RCA/CD Program

  • Track metrics and report RCA status

  • Facilitate RCA’s on assigned plant and process issues

  • Deliver RCA/CD training to PGEN employees

Configuration Management:

  • Maintain Plant Modification Program (PMP) procedure and support / assess process utilization

  • Support drawing management (TRACS) and maintain drafting standards

EPRI:

  • Manage EPRI funding, program and SDF selections for Power Generation

  • Represent Power Generation with Entergy METT and cross BU EPRI Meetings

  • Report executive summary of semi-annual advisor meetings.

  • Attend EPRI Generation section meeting and advise on program research

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position

  • B.S. in Engineering.

  • Minimum requirement is a 4 yr engineering degree from an accredited University or College

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 5+ years’ experience with NERC standards and NERC compliance programs.

  • Technical knowledge of power generation systems and equipment, including operational theory.

  • Experience with risk analysis and corrective action programs.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Knowledge and understanding of safe and acceptable engineering practices and principles.

  • Ability to analyze large amounts of technical data and structure such information for the purposes of clearly documenting and demonstrating compliance with all applicable NERC Reliability Compliance standards.

  • Ability to formulate and communicate thoughts and ideas developed into cogent operational guidance for personnel.

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills and an ability to communicate information in both formal and informal settings.

  • Knowledge of computers and word processing programs mandatory.

  • Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
